More than anything it was the fact that my life in New Jersey, for me, was survival mode.  So I wasn’t really thinking about following a passion, doing something that felt fun, doing something that freeing.  I was predominantly making my choices from the fear of ‘I better have enough money so I don’t starve’.  And I started thinking about – holy crow! – I’m living my life based on these intense feelings based on fear and scarcity and poverty, so when I thought about being abroad it was like a game changer because not only was I free of that matrix of fear, I was building my business.
