Contrary to myth, I have come across many more solo women travelers than men. Generally, I find men travel with friends or their partners.

It was a pleasure (and such fun!) speaking to HelpYouFind.Me about my greatest love: travel! You can learn about the benefits and challenges of solo travel, the safest places to visit, as well what inspired me to set up my Extreme Holidays Podcast and how I got the show on the road!

Extreme Holidays Podcast – latest episode!

Don’t forget to tune into my latest Extreme Holidays Podcast: Episode 16 – Epic Bicycle Trips: Pakistan to Tibet’s Mount Kailash. Graydon Hazenberg is fascinating to listen to. He’s funny, engaging, adventurous and brave! Hear about the immense challenges he faced attempting this journey: food shortages, terrible road conditions, being hounded by kids who hadn’t seen Westerners, to name but a few!

EPISODE 30: A 57 DAY HIKE ACROSS GREAT BRITAIN (WHILST BAREFOOT!) Ruth Millington's Extreme Holidays Podcast

In May 2019, world traveller, the Barefoot Backer, undertook an epic 57-day, 952-mile trek from the furthest Easterly point of Great Britain to the furthest Westerly point. Few people had walked the route before, but it wasn’t the only challenge BB, a somewhat inexperienced trekker, faced.  As his name would suggest, BB’s goal was to walk as much of the route barefoot whilst at the same time dealing with his dyspraxia, a condition which affects physical coordination and spacial awareness.Carrying all his equipment and part wild camping, learn what inspired BB to undertake the challenge, how he planned his route, and the logistics and difficulties he faced each day whilst catching a glimpse of Great Britain in all her glorious geographical and climatic extremes. You can follow BB on Twitter: @rtwbarefootAlso, check out BB’s podcast:https://traveltalesfrombeyondthebrochure.libsyn.comYouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@RTWBarefootWebsite:https://barefoot-backpacker.comProduction (for this episode)Creator, producer, writer and host: Ruth MillingtonMusic credit: Epic Orchestra – Blockbuster Adventure Music by JuliusHAdditional music: Greensleeves / What Child is this?
